My Reader Profile

Question 1 is a demographic question which shows the age range that has taken this survey. Over 90% are in the age range of 15-24 which means that I should make this age group my target market as it is more likely that this age group will read the content of the magazine. As my magazine is going to be on alternative rock music then this age group is also more likely to read it as the reader of these magazines are within the same age group

Question 2 is another demographic question which shows that female was the majority gender that took this survey and will be interested in music magazines. As the majority is female there will be more aspects within the magazine that females will find more interesting. But as this question comes before my questions on the genre I have chosen for my magazine the percentage will be more likely to change to majority males as in my genre research I found that the gender that reads alternative rock magazines is majority male, and this also changes what I will need to include within my magazine.

Question 3 is my last demographic question which shows that the people who took this survey are all white (British) and as my research on rock magazines has been only on magazines that are released in Britain or England. As my research is mainly been on this and the results for this question show that they are white British then it will be easier to make the article include things that the British public will enjoy.

Question 4 is my first psychographic question and this question shows that 33% of people who took the survey use YouTube as a way to listen to music and 25% use either iTunes or Spotify to listen to music. In majority the people listen to the music through the internet and I will find a way to incorporate this into my magazine as a way to try and increase the amount of people that are going to read it.

Question 5 is a psychographic question what shows which is the most chosen genres are rock and R&B, with indie being second. An additional response to the question is indie rock, which is a combination of the top two answers. As my magazine is going to be (alternative) rock then the people who took this survey are more likely to be readers as the genre picked is the one that has the most interest for these people.

Question 6 shows the different bands and artists that people who took this survey like, many of these bands can relate to the music genre I am doing for my music magazine and this means that many of these bands will be included in my magazine, which makes it more interesting to a larger audience.

Question 7 shows the different colours that people would associate with alternative rock music. The most popular colours are black, red, blue, and white. As I am doing an alternative rock magazine I will include these colours within my colour scheme to show the audience that it is an alternative rock magazine.

Question 8 shows what bands people associate with alternative rock music. The four bands that are repeated two times or more are Panic! at the Disco, Green Day, My Chemical Romance. Fall Out Boy being the band mentioned the most amount of times. As these bands were the four bands that most of the people associated with the alternative rock genre they are most likely to be bands that are included in my magazine.

Question 9 shows that my audience like to attend live shows and concerts. This means that I will make the articles in the magazine about bands and artists who regularly perform live shows for their fans. This also means that I could include information on the different shows played and even include a give-away competition for concert tickets.

Question 10 is my last psychographic question shows which gift would be best to give away with the magazine. The majority picked CDs, posters and t-shirts as the best things to give away with a magazine. If I include one of these within my magazine then that would increase readership and there will be more people who are going to buy it.
