Conventions Analysis Double Page Spread

A big picture of the band next to the story brings focus onto who the article is 

going to be about and so that people who don't know who the band are can be 

aware of who this story is going to be about and what their image is and how it 

relates to being in the rock magazine.

The article itself is in clear columns that easily readable by the audience and are easy 
to follow. The text in the column is easily readable against the background it is on.

There is a small comment at the bottom of the page that gives the audience insight 
into the photo shoot which makes the audience feel more involved with the band and 
the magazine.

The pull quote above the columns gives more hints about what the article could be 
about and it from a specific member of the band, which means the fans of this band 
will feel like they are connected to the band more and will be more willing to read the 
article.

The information on the band's new music will have been the main reason they have 
an article written about them and there is a realise date for their new song included for 
the fans that don't know when that is.

At the end of the article there is a comment about the continuation of the article into the
next week. This means that the audience who are interested in finishing the article will 
be more likely to be aware that the article continues in the next magazine and this 
increases the chance of more people buying the next one, even if they aren't a 
frequent buyer of the magazine.


Representation
This photograph would also have been part of set that have been used for the front 
cover and for the contents page. It is also a professional shot that makes the band 
look as important as the article makes them out to be and it is taken in front of an 
infinity background. The picture shows all four of the band members instead of just 
one but two of the members are not looking at the camera which could show how they 
are rebelling, which would fit the rock genre as rock stars are conventionally seen as 
rebels. The outfits the band is wearing isn't the usual look that rock stars would go for 
as their is a lot of bright colours but it still has a rock star edge to it as they are wearing 
things such as leather jackets and jackets with the sleeves cut off, they have long hair 
that is dyed,  and they have the tradition sullen rock star look on their faces.
